Marine Highway
The Tenn-Tom Waterway has Marine Highway status, serving as an extension of the surface transportation system. The M-65 corridor helps mitigate the increases in freight and hazardous materials movements along the I-65 corridor from southern Alabama northward. The M-65 Marine Highway Corridor includes:
- The Mobile, Tombigbee, and Black Warrior Rivers from the Port of Mobile to the Port of Birmingham
- The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway
- The Tennessee River via the Ohio River in Paducah, KY, to the Mississippi River
- All commercial navigation channels, ports, and harbors in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee
The M-65 Corridor connects to the M-10 corridor in Mobile, AL, and the M-55 Corridor in Cairo, IL.
